The Australian Collection
Australia carries some of the oldest ochre deposits on earth, rocks that have been used as pigment by the First Peoples of this continent for tens of thousands of years.
In this collection, I source ochres from specific landscapes across the country: the red of the centre, the warm yellows of river country, the deep browns of coastal stone.
Each pigment tells a story, has been gathered mindfully, ground by hand, bound with natural acacia gum, following recipes unchanged for centuries.
The resulting works are, in the most literal sense, painted with Australia.
